How to Check AEM Version on AEM 6.x and AEM Cloud Service

It's a critical aspect for anyone working with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) to know which exact version & patch level your AEM on-premise or cloud service environment is at. Knowing your AEM version helps you track changes, optimize troubleshooting, stay current with updates, and validate that patching processes are complete.

Despite its importance, there’s limited guidance available on how to check your AEM version.

Below are some easy ways to determine your AEM version:

Checking Version on Local Environments or AEM 6.x Dev/Stage/Prod Environments:

Using the Web Console

1. Navigate toward your AEM instance and access the AEM Web Console

2. Click on the Product Information tab for more details and to see your version.

3. Alternatively, you can view your version through the following URL:

http://[hostname]/system/console/status-productinfo

Using the Welcome Page

1. Visit the welcome page

2. Scroll down to the copyright section of the landing page, and you will see your version

3. You can also view your version through the following URL:

http://[hostname]/libs/cq/core/content/welcome.html

Checking the AEM as a Cloud Service Version

For AEM as a Cloud Service, Adobe sends out regular patch updates and monthly major feature releases. It's important for local developers to make sure that the release they are working on matches (as much as possible) the release that is deployed on the Cloud Service Dev, Stage and Production environments.

Checking the local build version is done using the same mechanism as above (either in /system/console/productinfo or the welcome page).

For Cloud environments, look on the Environments tab in Cloud Manager, which will note the version in-use on each environment.
